The whānau of Mirumiru Marae (Marokopa) were meant to have celebrated their 111 years of Poukai on Saturday, however due to renovations taking place at Marokopa the Poukai was cancelled this year.
The whānau of Marokopa chose to observe the day by holding a “Rā Whakawhanaungatanga”. Which gave an opportunity to share local history and history of Poukai to all in attendance.
The event saw over a hundred people return home to celebrate a fun-filled day of learning history, workshops, sports and activities and Kai.
MFM was proud to be present at the “Rā Whakawhanaungatanga” at Marokopa on Saturday 27th March.
