My role at MFM requires a range of different skills. In a nutshell, I look after all of the on-air content. This can be anything from finding music to play…. capturing audio content….or setting up our speakers at a school gala. The most important element of my role is to create a platform for our community to share their local stories in both Pākeha & Te Reo Māori through radio communications.

Kia ora, I’m Maggie. I come from a small settlement situated in the middle of the Earth, Te Kūiti. I have lived in Te Kūiti most of my life attending the local kura and getting my first paid job as a radio announcer on ‘The Rangatahi Show’ with a few of the cousins. 

Growing up in Te Kūiti meant that I spent a lot of my childhood playing bullrush with manuwhiri at the pā…and most of my friends were somehow all related to me. This made Te Kūiti the best place to grow up in. 

Today, I am a mum to my three year old Quinn and I’m still part of the crew at MFM. Although I have moved out of the rohe, I always make sure my connection to Te Kūiti is kept strong, which is why I am passionate about my mahi at MFM.
